$670 BILLION In Tax Increases Under Obama!
The House Ways and Means Committee released a list today of the more than $670 billion in tax increases that Democrats have signed into law since January of 2009, when Barack Obama took office. The list includes “at least 14 violations of the President’s pledge not to raise taxes on Americans earning less than $200,000 for singles and $250,000 for married couples,” totaling more than $316 billion in tax increases for middle class families. Texas Congressman John Carter takes it a step further, outlining additional tax increases that are scheduled to take effect automatically over the next three years.
Carter reminds us, “We need jobs to get out of this recession – not new taxes. And those jobs need to be good-paying, permanent, private-sector jobs, not the temporary census-counting jobs the President attempted to crow over this month.
“Every dollar going to government deficit spending is a dollar taken from private-sector jobs, and one that we cannot afford to lose if we hope to restore a vibrant economy and future for our children and grandchildren. That is the primary reason we have seen unemployment soar to record highs over 2009-2010.”
He’s exactly right. The only mistake he made is assuming that Obama and his friends are interested in what’s best for the future of this once-great nation. I’m not so sure anymore.

Could you be more specific, point out the tax increases that are coming?
Bernie, if you check out the PDF that is linked in the article, there’s a one-page document that lists them all.
Most of them are related to penalties or taxes imposed due to Obamacare. There’s also an increase in taxes on tobacco, and changes in rules for taxes on corporations.
Maybe the jobs situation will begin improving. It really sucks not being able to find a job after killing yourself for a degree.
Ummm…Lets be clear – this was NOT published by the House Ways and Means Committee, it was published by ONE of its members, right-wing Michigan Republican Dave Camp.
This also is a bit misleading. Republicans will claim that these were tax increases…when in reality a lot of it was closing tax loopholes for corporations OR penalizing people who are not following the law.
More misleading smear from Dave Camp…how disappointing.
Really interesting article post. Your article is very interesting. I enjoyed this blog post. This blog post is terrific! I have to say that after continually reading bad as in, same old ideas, little quality content, etc. article posts on other sites, it’s pleasant to actually read something that has some thought put into it. It’s a pleasure to read good content, especially after continually seeing rehashed crap that writers and bloggers are putting out nowadays. It’s always nice when I come across content that actually has value, I’ve been seeing a ton of subpar writing attempts recently. Anyways, thanks again and I’ll check back often to see what else you have to offer. I’ll check back in the future to see what else you have up your sleeve. Keep up the excellent work! BTW, I like your site design, but your header image was only loading half way for me. P.S. Your header is messed up a bit in IE. The problem could be on my end but I thought you might want to look into that.
