School Shooting, Are Guns At Fault?
Sadly and painfully another school shooting has occurred. By now most everybody has heard the horrible details which includes nearly 20 children among the dead. Inevitably, by the end of the day some liberal pundit will lay the blame squarely on the guns.
Are the guns at fault?
Many will ask: How could a loving God allow this?
The reasons for this actions and the tragic actions of the previous evil shooters are simple and make the obvious questions moot.
We are at fault for the shootings! Not God, Not Guns. Society itself! Think about it. This phenomenon was not heard of before Columbine. No other misunderstood, bullied persons took guns into schools for mass mayhem (there was the occasion postal worker, however) in previous generations. Guns have been available since the inception of this country, yet this is a relatively new evil phenomenon.
John Adams once quoted: “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
Moral and Religious! If there is one thing we learned in this last election, it’s that over 30% of those ages 18-29 are without any religious affiliation. How many more have a religious affiliation, but only attend Christmas and Easter services? There would appear to be a serious lack of a structured moral grounding in the young generation-Gen Y. Maybe the “Y” is not a letter, but a question asked by that generation. Why all the morals? This is a generation that has seen a winning argument in the public school system for abortions (which propagates the culture of death. Abortion is now being followed by a “Right to Die”, again a culture of death) , promiscuity and yes gay marriage. You may ask what gay marriage has to do with this. In order to win over the youth, the gay marriage proponents have to separate the children from their churches teachings. The children must be separated from the moral background.
One could add in the pop-culture which glorifies death and killing, as in most Rap music and promescuity, with Rap, Madonna, Lady Gaga and the list goes on and on.
Is it the schools fault? Is it abortion rights or gay marriage proponents fault? NO! It’s our fault! The parents of children that we allow to go without a moral background. The children who may bring home controversial subjects from school, but we are too busy with TV or other things we view as needing more of our time, than our own children. It’s our fault when we fail to raise our children with a faith background. What has atheism won? They have diminished the importance of a strong moral base for society.
Think about this phenomenon. Shootings started with Columbine, then Von Maur (Omaha), Virginia Tech, Millard South (Omaha), Dark Knight movie shooter (Colorado) and today’s purely evil deed. All shooters from the same generation. Has society failed this generation? Have we failed to instill a sense of morality in this generation.
People worry about the President’s overt disregard for the Constitution, but John Adams’ quote may be worth taking a look at. Is it worth worrying about a President who disregards the Constitution or is it better to worry about a society that is no longer moral or religious enough to be lead by such a wonderful document?
What or who is at fault? Satan! The problem is, he didn’t sneak in the back door. No, we invited him in through the front door.

This pretty much hits it on the head. Parental responsibility is the issue. We need to not worry about the social ramifications of being a parent that does not “spare the rod”. Children these days are bombarded with so much be it on TV, video games, role playing games, movies. They are subjected to decadence in the forms of ” Glee”, “Gossip Girl”, “16 and Pregnant” and many other shows that promote lesser values…We need to man it up and take the responsibility of rearing our own kids, know when to swat them on the backside, take away the video games and shut off the damn television.
Just to point out, that these were most certainly heard of all over the planet prior to columbine……..that was just a big one with a lot of media attention…… it was certainly not the first. Just saying……

Here is an idea of how long this has been going on….its not some “new” thing….
Dec. 30, 1974: In Olean, N.Y., Anthony Barbaro, a 17-year-old Regents scholar armed with a rifle and shotgun, kills three adults and wounds 11 others at his high school, which was closed for the Christmas holiday. Barbaro was reportedly a loner who kept a diary describing several “battle plans” for his attack on the school.
“Think about this phenomenon. Shootings started with Columbine,” …. no, they didnt…..its been going on for a very long time, and its not some statistical epidemic……not to rain on the parade here, (societies morals are certainly a mess)….but lets get the history correct.
